Whistler Welcomes the Invictus Games: A Celebration of Strength and Community
by
Whistler has always been a place where the human spirit thrives—whether it’s conquering rugged mountain terrain, pushing the limits on fresh powder, or finding solace in the breathtaking natural surroundings. But this year, our incredible community is hosting something truly special: the Invictus Games.
As a proud Whistler local, I can’t think of a better setting to welcome these remarkable athletes. The Invictus Games, founded by Prince Harry in 2014, shine a light on the resilience, determination, and courage of wounded, injured, and sick service members and veterans. Their journey is nothing short of inspiring, and our town is honored to play a part in celebrating their strength and perseverance.
The heart of Whistler has always been its people, and this event has brought out the very best in our community. I’m incredibly thankful for the countless volunteers, organizers, and supporters who are making the Games possible. Their dedication and enthusiasm reflect the true spirit of Whistler—one of inclusivity, support, and unwavering passion for sport and adventure.
Watching these athletes push themselves, overcome obstacles, and compete with such determination is a reminder of the power of resilience. It’s not just about winning—it’s about the journey, the camaraderie, and the unbreakable spirit that unites everyone involved.
As the Games unfold, I encourage everyone—locals and visitors alike—to come out, cheer, and be inspired by these incredible competitors. Let’s show them the warmth and energy that make Whistler such a special place.
To every athlete participating in the Invictus Games—welcome to Whistler. Your strength, courage, and perseverance inspire us all.
